Modelinga classic Victorian house is a fun and fairly easy project to followalong with if you havent done a lot of modeling in Maya previously. Inthe first part youll learn how to size up and align floor planereferences for a house and assign them to different display layers, aswell as use some basic hotkeys and other shortcuts.
Using polygonprimitives well create the base of the house by working with the move,scale and rotate tools, pulling and pushing vertices, extruding facesand edges, and duplicating geometry which is common practice whenmodeling any sort of architecture. Well also align the planks, buildmultiple windows and a front porch to finally combine all the separateparts into one complete model.
Throughout this tutorial youllget good practice at working with some of Mayas most useful modelingtools, learn the basis of a polygon modeling workflow and how you canreuse and delete unnecessary geometry to generate a functional housemodel quickly.
