Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) - free antivirus software package from the company Microsoft, designed to combat viruses, spyware, rootkits and Trojan horses. This software works only on computers that have installed a genuine copy of Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7.
23 June 2009 was released on a limited public beta of the product, available for download only the first 75,000 users from the United States, Israel and Brazil. Release the final version took place on September 29, 2009 (morning Pacific vermeni). It was presented to 19 markets and is available in 8 languages, Russia and the Russian language yet. However, the first day (September 29) due to a clerical error from Russia, users can download and register antivirus. The appearance of the official version is planned for Russia in the first half of 2010-year. The functionality of the product in many ways similar to the standard Windows Defender, the supplied all the existing options are now on Windows, but during installation MSE, Windows Defender is turned off. MSE is not included in the recently published structure of Windows 7. Microsoft is positioning its product as "Antivirus for 50-60% of users who do not want to pay for the installation of paid anti-virus"
The main pluses of the Anti-Virus:
1. easy installation
2. complete free - no need to worry about keys and access to updates
3. ease of use - works on the principle of "set and forget"
4. a complete anti-virus databases, as Microsoft does not write their own bases, and borrows from several sources, and gathers together.
