The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard is a raunchy comedy about Don Ready (Jeremy Piven), a car salesman who can talk anyone into buying any car or doing anything he wants them to do. The movie features a lot of enjoyable laughs, but about half of the plots fall flat. Kathyrn Hahn plays one of Don's assistants named Babs, who falls in love with Peter (Rob Riggle), a 10 year old in a man's body. This is a stupid, disturbing, and unfunny plot. There's another plot about the runner of Selleck Motors, Ben (James Brolin) having a gay crush on one of Don's assistants, Brent (David Koechner). This is also stupid, disturbing, and unfunny. That said, Jeremy Piven is very good, and Ed Helms gets a lot of laughs as the daughter of Ben, Ivy's jerk boyfriend, Paxton who works with his dad (Alan Thicke) at a competing dealership. Ving Rhames also scores a ton of laughs, and I mean a ton as Don's assistant, Jibby. Will Ferrell also shows up in a very funny appearance as Don's dead assistant. Two very funny people, Craig Robinson and Ken Jeong score no laughs. This movie is half and half with the laughs, but I enjoyed the good amount of laughs I got, but it's not one that you should need to see right away. You can probably wait long enough to rent it when it comes out on DVD, because it is enjoyable and does have a ton of laughs, but it's just not a good movie.
