Idont know what video Fleetlord Atvar watched to give it a 5 starsrating but I personally was very disappointed with this documentary, butas is stated in my review title what do you expect for $6.99!!! Youdefinitely get what you pay for which isnt much really! If yourpashionate & knowledgeable about Samurai (like me) due to your fairshare of study & research on the topic then I think you REALLY willnot enjoy watching this documentary. It doesnt really go into any greatdetail on anything...they just kinda browse from one Samurai relatedtopic to another aimlessly!! They do speak briefly about legendarySamurai Miyamoto Musashi, his upbringing, swordsmanship & some ofhis career achievements such as some of the Samurai he defeated &killed, as well as his writing of the Book of Five Rings but like Isaid earlier they dont go into great detail about Musashi.

Thedocumentary focuses more on how the Samurai spirit influences modernday Japan & how Japanese people today try & impliment themorales & ethics of the Samurai in their everyday jobs &pashions. They show quick glimpses of Japanese swordsmithing (which wasone of the only parts I liked) Iaido, Kendo & other Martial Arts,but once again quick glimpses. They show how Samurai have become a bigpart of modern day popular culture in the form of video games &comic books. And they speak briefly of Japans participation in WorldWar II & one pilots expierence in the war.

I was expecting adocumentary on the bloody history of the Samurai covering the SengokuJidai period (which was the golden age of the Samurai) the TokugawaShogunate, something tangible on the history of the Samurai. I wouldnteven consider this video to be a good introductory documentary on theSamurai because it really wont teach you anything that significant onthe topic. This documentary was just soooooo elemantary! Perhaps if youknow absolutely nothing about the Samurai then you might like it but Ihighly doubt it. Your better off saving the $6.99 and putting thattowards buying another Samurai documentary video. Sorry about the longreview, Im just very passionate about Samurai, Ive been studying themfor most of my life (Im 30) & I think this video is a very poorrepresentation of them!

Wellmade documentary by national geographic Canada. It shows how theSamurai historically started and been transformed as the countrysculture has changed over the centuries. It also focuses on how modernJapan intercepts the ancient Samurai.

So is this video worth watching I guess thats for you to judge.
